LOAN OFFICER –
New to Industry

Consider Principles of Mortgage Origination or Standards of Conventional Lending

Follow with Underwriting the Conventional Loan or Processing for the Approval if you do your own processing.

Principles of Mortgage Origination is the "Bible" for many of our students. Standards of Conventional Origination is the identical course but does not contain chapters on FHA and VA lending. Check with your manager to determine whether you need this information or not.
 
ESTABLISHED UNDERWRITER, LOAN OFFICER OR MANAGER

Underwriting the FHA Loan, Lending to New Americans, New Construction and Rehab Lending are all excellent courses that cover special lending programs or markets.

Regulatory Study Guide, Federal is a through review of Federal regs, with which all senior loan officers, underwriters and mangers should be familiar.

We have several courses that meet state continuing ed requirements and provide solid information on specific programs.
 
ESTABLISHED LOAN OFFICER PREPARING TO BECOME A MORTGAGE BROKER

Wholesale Lending Overview is a course that provides good detail on getting set up with wholesale lenders and managing the trust account.

The Regulatory Study Guide, Federal is a detailed review of laws governing mortgage. Applied Regs is a study of what happens when a case winds up in court.

These choices give the manger needed to tools to stay in compliance and to understand the "rules".

There are many other special market courses that may be valuable such as Lending to New Americans, New Construction and Rehab, and Underwriting the FHA Loan.

 

BEGINNING PROCESSOR –
No Industry Experience

Conventional Processing is designed for the beginner with no industry background. In a perfect world, a processor would first take Principles of Mortgage Origination to understand the role of the loan officer and the issues that drive the business.
 
JUNIOR PROCESSOR -
6 - 18 months experience
Processing for the Approval: From Documentation to Underwriting. Presents the underwriter point of view for each issue, followed by appropriate documentation to be included in the file.
 
UNDERWRITER – New to FHA Underwriting, but experienced in Conventional Underwriting Underwriting the FHA Loan. A thorough review of the risk management issues on FHA loans.

PROFESSIONS AT A GLANCE
FINANCIAL OR REAL ESTATE PROFESSIONAL PREPARING TO ADD MORTGAGE LENDING AS A  PRACTICE Mortgage Brokerage and Lending, followed by Processing for the Approval. This combination provides the most complete library possible. These 2 courses provide all practical basics of mortgage origination.
 
HUMAN RESOURCE PROFESSIONAL

Principles of Mortgage Origination followed by Processing for the Approval.

These two courses provide a good review of origination and processing, enabling the human resource professional to understand job requirements.
